Cancellation of Parish Council Meetings on 12th September 2022

Yapton Parish Council has decided to cancel the meetings of the Planning Committee and the Parish Council scheduled for the evening of the 12th September 2022. This is out of respect following the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the afternoon of the 8th September 2022, and whilst the country is in a period of National Mourning.

The next scheduled meeting of the Parish Council and Planning Committee will take place on the 14th November 2022. If any matters of an urgent or sensitive nature come to light during the next few weeks then a special meeting of the Planning Committee or Parish Council can be arranged to deal with such matters. All other business will be held over to the November meeting. Please contact the Clerk of the Council, Andrew Gardiner for further information on the future meeting dates.

Books of Condolence are available online at the Royal Family's official website, where a virtual condolence book has been set up at The Royal Family. Anyone can sign it and leave a message or share a memory, and some (but not all, due to the high volume of notes expected) will be passed across to the Royal Family directly. Other messages may be "held in the royal archives for posterity".

In its national mourning guidance, the royal family said: “There will be opportunities to sign books of condolence at various Town Halls and other locations throughout the UK. Please check with your Local Authority.”

Locally, You may wish to send a letter or card to Arun Dsitrict Council and they will collate these. Arun Dsitrict Council also have physical books of condolence at the Civic Centre in Littlehampton and the Town Hall in Bognor Regis. These will available to sign from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 1pm Saturday and Sunday during the period of mourning.
