YAPTON PARISH COUNCIL
PLANNING COMMITTEE
20 October 2006 – At a meeting of the Planning Committee held in Yapton
Present: Mr Faulkner (Chairman), Mr Andrews, Mr Fellows, Mrs Barnes and Mr Jones.
PLANNING APPLICATIONS
The Planning Committee had before them and considered the following planning applications and resolved as indicated:-
|
Y/67/06/ |
Outline application for 3 no. cottages and garages plus demolition of existing taxi business and widening of access drive. |
Victoria House Main Road Yapton For: P Dedman & P Steele OBJECTION |
1) The proposal is considered to be an overdevelopment of the area.
2) The proposed dwellings will be located in one of Yapton’s two Conservation Areas and it is felt that they do not enhance the character of the area.
3) There is sufficient parking for one vehicle per dwelling and whilst this may meet present guidelines, most households nowadays support a minimum of two vehicles. There is every likelihood therefore that additional vehicles would park on the adjacent Main Road together with any visiting vehicles due to the lack of space within the area of the development. This would increase the present hazardous nature of this location, impeding the flow of traffic, in what is already a recognised bottleneck for traffic.

Y/68/06/TC |
Fell 1 No. Hawthorn (Crataegus Monogyna) tree and 1 No. Cotoneaster Frigidus within the Yapton Main Road/Church Road Conservation Area. |
2 Laburnum Cottages Main Road Yapton For: Nicholas Burns OBJECTION |
The Planning Committee objects to the removal of the two trees and suggests they should be trimmed unless they are diseased and require removal.
