PLANNING APPLICATIONS FOR YAPTON

The Planning Committee had before them and considered the following planning application(s) and resolved as indicated:-

Recladding and change of use of former nursery buildings to B1/B8 commercial units. SUBSTITUTE PLANS

Orchard Nurseries Church Lane/North End Road, Yapton For: Mr J D’Amario Case Officer: Mr J Baeza OBJECTION

The reasons for the objection were as follows:

1) The application is retrospective, although this is not made clear in the advertisement. The applicant has made previous applications for other development on the site and should therefore know the correct procedure.

2) The site is scheduled for agricultural use and not for light industrial use.

3) A change in the level of use will encourage further erosion of control of occupants.

In addition the Committee has noted that Units 7 & 19 which are leased to Sky are being used as a Call Centre. Does this constitute a change in use or would it be considered a normal operation from an industrial unit?

The Committee also asked whether the change in access is part of a future plan to infill land to the north of the new access?
